Ẹgbẹ́ · The society

Belong to the house

An ẹgbẹ́ is not a mailing list. Members are taught, called on, and counted on — and in return the house is there when something happens at two in the morning. These levels are a way to make that ordinary rather than exceptional.

These prices are a proposal. These three levels and their prices are a PROPOSAL and have not been set by the house. They are here so there is something concrete to change. Nothing on this page is charged to anyone until the ilé says so.

Before you ask

Do I have to be initiated?

No. Membership is not initiation and does not lead to it automatically. Initiation is decided by divination and by the house, on its own timing, and it is not something a subscription buys.

Do I have to be Yorùbá?

No. The house describes itself as African-centred and its classes and workshops as open to everyone. Come and learn.

Can I join from another city?

The teaching and the readings travel. Ceremony does not — for that you come to Fayetteville.

What if I cannot pay?

Ask anyway. This is a house whose own outreach feeds people and clothes people; the question of what someone can carry is one it already knows how to have.
